A Few Quick Glow in the Dark Painting Tips for Artists

Glow in the dark paint behaves like any water-based paint. The issue you'll run into regards the glowing color of the paint. Basically, you'll want to start with designs that don't blend the various colors together. Glow in the dark paints perform best when you stack multiple coats of the same color. This gives you bright-glowing consistency of color. Once you master this basic, you can experiment with layering, but always rest on a foundation of smooth and consistent color regions using the pre-mixed pallete. Mixing color in a traditional way will not produce the effect you intend. Plan your design, and figure out how to achieve what you want using some tests. I found that the paint looks best when I use three thick coats, allowing dry time for each coat. I often like to mask off areas so I can keep the paint thick and not work so much about messing up. The mask will catch the mistakes and I'll remove it after the third coat of glow paint.
